NEVER Try This Concealer "Hack"

Lindsey Metrus

As beauty editors, we've come across several makeup hacks on Pinterest and YouTube that are certainly worthy of praise. However, sometimes a "hack" is actually much more of a hoax. And as Daily Makeover recently reported, one of the worst "hacks" out there is probably one you've come across yourself: Using foundation "goo" as concealer. That's right—the gunk that often collects on the top of our foundation bottles is said to be a "perfect" replacement when your trusty tube of concealer runs out, but this is actually a big beauty mistake.

Oftentimes, we hold onto our foundation bottles past their expiration date, meaning the chunky, dried-on foundation in the cap is likely to be laden with bacteria—gross! Not to mention when foundation is exposed to oxygen, it usually turns a dark orange colour—not exactly the shade you'd want to put on a blemish. So, dear readers, do yourself a favour and skip this hack—there are plenty of concealers worth purchasing that won't break the bank.

One of our favourite budget options is TheBalm's Time Balm Anti-Wrinkle Concealer ($20).
