Editor’s Picks: 10 Things We're Shopping From Sephora Before Winter Hits
Anytime I set foot in a Sephora store, I am immediately struck by the urge to fill my shopping basket to the brim. Stocking exclusive and cult brands like Marc Jacobs Beauty, Kat Von D, Huda Beauty and Ouai, it's easy to get carried away while wandering through the aisles, amidst the heaving beauty shelves. (Give me ten minutes and a black Amex, and I could easily pull a Kylie Jenner.) For me, there's nothing more exciting than an unrushed visit to this skincare, makeup and haircare playground. And more often than not, I leave with full shopping bags. The feeling is best described as "a giddy child on Christmas morning".
It's no surprise that this behaviour, when allowed to go unchecked, has put a hefty dent in my bank account in the past. That said, I've recently reigned in my sporadic splurges by setting a budget. While I'll never swear off my favourite pastime (I dedicate a certain percentage of my dollars to beauty shopping each month), sticking to a financial plan has helped me focus on things I really need and want. Pre-winter, for instance, I'm stocking up on hard-working skincare, versatile eye makeup and my go-to frizz-busting hair product.

Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 50+ ($47)
Confession: I often forget to apply sunscreen. I know I should be more disciplined in protecting my skin from the sun’s harsh UV rays, so I've brought in this all-in-one moisturiser. I apply it after cleansing, and before makeup, for a hit of hydration and SPF protection.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon ($36)
We recently roadtested this best-selling gel pencil, and I quickly became obsessed with its staying power. My favourite thing about it though, is its ability to be worn flicked, smudged or blended. It really is that versatile.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($36)
Mascara is a girl’s best friend, and this Marc Jacobs Beauty pick gives your lashes that va-va-voom factor. If you’re not a fan of applying falsies, but want similar volume, you won't be disappointed with this super-black, amplifying formula.
Milk Coconut Kiss Lip Moisturiser ($10)
A hydrating lip balm is my number one beauty essential. I’m not a fan of the feeling of dry lips so I keep them everywhere—in my jacket pocket, my car and handbag. This coconut-infused formula is not only delicious but also provides long-lasting hydration.
