The GIF Strobing Tutorial You’ve Been Waiting For
By now, we’re more than familiar with the makeup wizardry that is strobing. It’s the fastest route to skin compliments, and a foolproof way to transform a tired complexion into a glowy one. Since we’re pre-empting the amount of champagne-induced tiredness we’ll be feeling post-December, we reached out to Clinique’s Colour Artist Damian Garozzo for the how-to on this highlighting trend. Keep reading for Garozzo’s simple 3-step strobing tutorial, then file this one away for January 1st.

#1: Ace Your Base
Prep clean skin with a nourishing moisturiser like Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief ($60) for a smooth, dewy base. Next, using a foundation brush, apply a thin veil of sheer illuminser over the top. Go for something big on glow but low on sparkles, like Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator ($48) in Natural. Pat concealer under your eyes and on any blemishes, and blend well.
#2: Apply Your Highlights
Now for the fun bit. Apply luminiser where the light naturally hits your face. Think: along cheekbones and brow bones, down the bridge of your nose, at your Cupid’s bow and on your chin. If you’re nervous about application, Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight ($42) in Super Starlight is super easy to use; just swipe it on and blend with fingers.
#3: Add Finishing Touches
