So you've decided to go for a short hairstyle. Yep, you're finally going to take the plunge. But which crop are you going to choose? A great place to look for short-hair inspiration is your favourite short-haired A-listers (including, as you might have guessed, Cara Delevingne—you'll see her new side-swept bob when you scroll down). Once you've deciphered which short haircut you love and which is likely to suit your face shape and hair texture, you can take a picture to your hairdresser so you don't end up in a Friends Dudley/Demi Moore situation. In the hair world, the old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" is spot-on.
There is a dreamy short hairstyle for everyone, and some of our favourite celebrities prove it. Maybe it's a pixie crop as worn by Scarlett Johansson (who, if you remember, once had long hair, too) or something closer, such as Lupita Nyong'o's 'do. Perhaps it's a bob as seen on Jourdan Dunn, Rihanna, and Michelle Williams, who have all rocked the look. Or maybe (just maybe) you're keen to pull a K.Stew and go for a buzz cut. There are so many short hairstyles and haircut ideas to draw on. And of course, short hair can be incredibly versatile; you can play with texture, partings, accessories, and even add in braids to mix up your style from day to day.
If the question "Should I cut my hair short?" regularly pops into your head, then why not go for it? You can find the aforementioned short hairstyles (and more) as well as the face shapes they suit in the gallery below. Or if you have thick hair and you're not sure if it will suit you, you can check our gallery of the best short haircuts for thick hair as well.
