Sara Donaldson Models THE Haircut of the Summer

The bob, and its slightly longer cousin, the lob, have been trending for what seems like forever, and with temps rising as we head into summer, it seems like everyone is sporting a shorter cut. Sara Donaldson of Harper & Harley is the owner of one such mane, so we reached out to her stylist Jaye Edwards of Edwards And Co for the secrets behind the new, slightly shorter 'do she sported in a recent shoot for Who What Wear Australia.

First up, there's a reason this now almost-classic style still feels fresh: “It’s easy to maintain and ready-to-wear—and it’ll look its best after a swim in the ocean,” says Edwards. That’s right, this is THE haircut of the summer.

For a similar look yourself, Edwards advises you ask your stylist for: “A softly layered, almost one-length haircut, with a deep and sweeping side fringe.” Invest in a bottle of David Mallett Australian Sea Salt Spray ($54) and a hairdryer with a diffuser to get the styling down pat. (For super straight strands, cheat a barely-there wave by twisting a few haphazard sections of hair around a hot tong.) If you have thick, coarse or curly hair Edwards says it's best to steer clear of this style—ask your stylist to recommend something inspired-by that’s better suited to your hair type.
