This is the Cult Sheet Mask Ruby Rose Won't Travel Without
When I got an email asking if I wanted to interview Ruby Rose, I was quick to jump at the chance. Firstly, Rose is stunning, but she's also progressive, intelligent, and all about pushing the norms when it comes to "traditional beauty". From her breakout role on MTV (the nostalgia is real), to her part on insanely popular Orange is the New Black, Rose is 100 percent making waves in LA and we're pretty chuffed that we can call her our own.
Rose was back in Australia on a press trip with Urban Decay (whom she is the face for), and, for obvious reasons, that got us talking about all things beauty. From sheet masks to coconut oil, Rose was all too happy to divulge her beauty go-tos.

Byrdie Australia: You've come so far career, would you say your approach to beauty has changed over this time?
Ruby Rose: I don't know if my approach has changed, more my skills and executing have definitely changed. I've always had a love for beauty. I idolised Madonna, Bowie, and Annie Lennox growing up. The makeup was androgynous and '80s punk rock, so I've always loved that style. Now I just getting better at finding the middle ground—I don't have to be completely androgynous or completely feminine. It's such an amazing grey area that everyone's exploring, there's inspiration everywhere.
B: What makeup trend are you really excited about for summer?
RR: I'm terrible, so I always go to the team at Urban Decay to ask what the trends are. I don't really go by trends though, to be honest. I just go by the rule that if it looks good, and if it makes you feel good, just go with it. It doesn't matter if someone tells me that a particular trend I'm wearing happened six months—I don't care.
B: What are the beauty products you will always continue to buy, no matter what?
RR: I am obsessed with the original Urban Decay Naked Palette, it's my favourite. I also love the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, the B6 Complexion Prep Priming Spray, and the Brow Box. For my face, I use a brand called Éminence skincare—it's organic and plant-based. And I love SK-II sheet masks when I'm travelling—I actually wear them on the plane. And there's Sisley Body Cream that I use everywhere. Again, it's plant-based and it's meant to make your legs look like a supermodel's—it's so hydrating and glossy. Oh, and coconut oil. I use it for everything. I eat it with a spoon, use it as a body cream, use it as a hair mask, face mask, I even use it take off makeup sometimes.
B: If you had three minutes to put your makeup on, what would you do?
RR: I would do my brows using the Brow Box, a few coats of my Perversion Mascara, and probably a lip—depending on where I'm going. If it was the Emmys, I probably would say I hate you, then I would put on a bold lip. For every other day, I'd go more neutral.
