At this point, there's little question that the beauty world is obsessed with purple highlighter. A significant departure from the traditionally warm highlighter hues in colorways of champagne and rose gold, these iridescent iteration has carved out a growing fan base—and looks to be the next big thing in beauty.

First to the scene was Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish 003—a holographic highlighter with a pearly iridescent sheen and purple undertones. Flattering on all skin tones, the purple-toned miracle product not only sold out immediately but also crashed her site. Most recently, Rihanna took the commitment to purple up a few notches with in her Fenty Beauty line's Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Unicorn, a hard-to-miss platinum lilac. Rihanna even demonstrated just how much of a wow-factor the purple highlighter could impart, debuting the beauty look at the Fenty Beauty launch in London last week.

More and more makeup brands are offering their takes on the purple highlighter, while beauty lovers have been quick to buy up the cool, universally-flattering hue. There's no denying that the lavender hue is the most fashion-forward way to define your cheekbones and add dimension.
