Princess Eugenie Wore the Royal Family's Go-To Nail Polish on Her Wedding Day
It could be said that within the realm of the royal family, Princess Eugenie of York is somewhat of a risk taker when it comes to her fashion and beauty choices—fancy nail art included. Reindeer and unicorns aside, however, if royal wedding history were to repeat itself, it would've been safe to presume the most recent newlywed would stick to an elegant and dainty flesh tone on her big day—non-distracting, subtle, and ever so classic in the most flattering of ways.
While part of our subconscious did kind of hope Princes Eugenie would walk to the altar in rhinestone-studded nail art for her wedding, she did not. In fact, she followed in Meghan Markle's (and many brides' before her) exact footsteps by reportedly wearing one of the most quintessentially classic and, yes, perhaps predictable polish shades in history: Essie's perennial natural stunner, Ballet Slippers ($15).
According to Harper's Bazaar, Princess Eugenie chose the beloved shade of sheer pink for the big day, and to be honest, we're not shocked. First of all, Ballet Slippers is rumored to be the go-to choice of Queen Elizabeth herself. Also, it's allegedly the hue Meghan Markle walked down the aisle in, and it's only a few ticks away from the slightly off-the-grid choice Kate Middleton made back in 2004 with Essie's natural shade Allure.
So is it fair to say Essie's cult-classic shade is the unofficial royal polish shade? Perhaps.
