The 6 Best Beauty Looks at the 2017 People's Choice Awards
Awards season is only just getting underway, and already we've been blown away several times over by the top-notch beauty game on the red carpet. Case in point: Last night's 43rd annual People's Choice Awards, where Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, and more put their best faces forward. The most exciting part? Many of their hair and makeup looks were created using drugstore products—making it even easier to try on the looks at home.
So which inky shade of lipstick graced Ruby Rose's pout? How exactly did Lively's hairstylist create her tousled texture? Find our favourite looks of the evening below, along with tutorials straight from the glam squads behind them.
J.Lo looked as flawless as ever with fluttery lashes and kohl-lined eyes—and believe it or not, that all came courtesy of drugstore products. After prepping the actress and singer's skin with moisturiser and blurring imperfections with foundation, L'Oréal makeup artist Mary Phillips used the brand's Infallible Pro-Contour Kit in Medium to sculpt Lopez's cheekbones and jawline. For her eyes, Parker used L'Oréal's Colour Riche La Palette Nude ($20) to add some colour before water-lining with the brand's Infallible Black Velvet Liner ($22) and Infallible Matte Matic Liner (similar product). As for those lashes, L'Oréal's aptly-named Voluminous Superstar Mascara ($20) seriously delivered.
We love the delicate shimmer of Bell's classic look—starting with her glowing complexion. Makeup artist Simone Almekias-Siegl prepped the actress's skin with Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel ($24), followed by the brand's Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum ($27), and Hydro Boost Water Gel ($24). "It leaves the skin hydrated and firm without leaving it oily and gives me a nice surface to apply makeup," she explains.
Makeup artist Pati Dubroff opted to keep Chopra's look fresh, warm, and minimal. After prepping her skin and applying foundation and concealer, Dubroff subtly contoured the actress's bone structure with Laura Mercier Custom Contour Compact ($56) and Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder ($45). As for that ultra-pretty lip, Dubroff swiped on Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Fantasy ($40).
Lively's hair struck the perfect balance between sleek and effortless. Stylist Rod Ortega created the laissez-faire look using drugstore products. Before blow-drying, he applied L'Oréal's Nutri-Gloss High Shine Glossing Mist ($13) to Lively's ends to keep them smooth. After using the blow-dryer to create some lift and texture at the roots, he spritzed on the brand's Extraordinary Clay Dry-Shampoo (similar product) and Air Dry It Wave Swept Spray to amp up her natural texture.
The actress and model's vampy lip was the perfect accessory to her creamy complexion. As for the specific shade of lipstick she was wearing, that would be Urban Decay's new Vice Liquid Lipstick ($28) in Blackmail.
The Blackish actress looked impeccable, thanks to her natural curls and soft pink lip. Makeup artist Tasha Brown made it her mission to let Shahidi's natural beauty shine through, only using "just a few drops" of foundation and the lightest shade of Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays ($67) along her lids.
Believe it or not, this was the first time Shahidi had worn a punchy lip colour on the red carpet—Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Color ($40) in Addiction.
