Ouai Is Releasing 4 Brand-New Products, and They're Not for Your Hair
Ouai Haircare is the brainchild of celebrity hair guru Jen Atkin. She's the hairstylist of A-listers like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Bella Hadid, Chrissy Teigen, and the entire Kardashian empire. She's also the brand ambassador behind Dyson's techy new hair tools, so it's safe to say that she has a lot on her plate and just as much knowledge and experience to pull from. So while we trust Ouai's sweetly scented products for all our haircare needs, from the brand's Dry Texture Foam to the Matte Pomade, we've never really thought of it as a fragrance brand.
That's about to change since Atkin just announced that four full-size fragrances are coming our way (Australian launch dates are yet to be confirmed). Even though the brand has released limited-edition rollerball perfumes in the past, this marks its first real debut into the fragrance market. Keep scrolling to learn everything you need to know about these four new fragrances. Plus, find out which one is best for you.
Each one of the four fragrances was inspired by a different city—Los Angeles, Paris, New York, and Sydney (or more specifically, Bondi Beach). They're all are housed in chic, circular bottles with bold white caps that are sure to look right at home on your bathroom vanity. But let's dive into each fragrance's specific notes. With four diverse scent profiles, there's sure to be one that will become your new go-to perfume. It's just up to you to decide what city you want to channel in your fragrance of choice.
Ouai Melrose Place Eau de Parfum ($)
Let's start with the Los Angeles–inspired scent since L.A. is the home of this particular beauty writer. It's specifically inspired by Melrose Place in West Hollywood. It has top notes of champagne, pink peppercorn, and berry; middle notes of peony, rose, freesia, and jasmine; and dry-down notes of amber, sandalwood, and musk. In short, it's a floral rose fragrance that smells summery and sweet. For reference, it's the very same scent found in the brand's ever-popular Rose Hair and Body Oil.
Ouai Mercer Street Eau de Parfum ($)
Next we have the New York–inspired scent called Mercer Street. Top notes of lily, orange, and peony meld with middle notes of magnolia, jasmine, and Turkish rose. It has dry-down notes of musk and orris. It's fresh and a little more citrusy than the Melrose Place fragrance thanks to the inclusion of Italian lemon. You can find the same fragrance in the brand's shampoos (like the Repair Shampoo).
Ouai North Bondi Eau de Parfum ($56)
Finally, there's the North Bondi fragrance, which is brand new. It's inspired by Bondi Beach in Australia, obviously. That's not surprising considering it's the same scent found in the brand's Wave Spray, which is meant to impart piecey, windswept texture into your strands, like the kind that results from a day on the ocean. It's fresh and a little fruity thanks to notes of bergamot, apple blossom, raspberry, rose, jasmine, violet, sandalwood, patchouli, and musk. Basically, it smells like summer.
Each of these fragrances is free from parabens and animal testing. The official launch in the U.S. is November 13, so fingers crossed we will see them in Australia some time in the months to follow.
