This Beauty Brand Beat Out Fenty as the Most Searched in 2017
Throughout 2017 there have been so many buzzy beauty launches. We saw the launch of glitter face masks, bright pink translucent powder, caffeine-infused nail polish, and celeb makeup collabs. Speaking of celebrities, Kim Kardashian West expanded her brand in a big way by releasing crystal-inspired fragrance and glitter pigments and glosses. We can't forget Rihanna, of course. She launched her Fenty Beauty brand and exceeded everyone's expectations with aplomb.
So with all of these buzzy things happening in the beauty industry over the past year, which one reigns supreme? Which one (to borrow a term associated with Kim K. here) broke the Internet? Well, analysing data from Google is a good place to start. The search engine and tech company released information on the most searched beauty brands from the year, and the results were definitely surprising. Keep scrolling to see which brand was the most searched throughout all of 2017.
Ulta Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette ($20)
The number one most-searched-for beauty brand was (wait for it) Ulta. Unfortunately we don't have access to Ulta in Australia, but when we travel, it's one of our first stops. We love Ulta for its combination of high-end and drugstore brands; in one trip, we can purchase our luxe essentials and budget-friendly extras. However, despite our deep love for the place, we were surprised to see Ulta come in first—what with competition from Sephora, Target, and other massive retailers.
So, yes, we were surprised, but we weren't disappointed. How could we be? Half of the products in our makeup collection originate from Ulta. Take, for example, one inexpensive makeup palette we've been loving lately. This rose gold palette from Ulta's namesake beauty brand has 12 pressed powders that come in gorgeous muted shades. The complementary neutral tones rival those from palettes that are twice, if not three times, more expensive.
The other most searched brands were BH Cosmetics, LipSense, Charlotte Tilbury, Milk Makeup, Benefit Cosmetics, Wet 'n' Wild, Fenty Beauty, and Huda Beauty. It's surprising data that's definitely worth knowing. Is anyone else thinking they might be missing out on some must-have products from these brands?
