Miranda Kerr's Wedding Hair Took Just 15 Minutes
Whether it’s on the Victoria’s Secret runway or the Met Gala red carpet, Miranda Kerr is never less than chic, poised, and perfectly put together—but she (naturally) took her beauty and style game to the next level for her May wedding to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. Kerr channeled old Hollywood icon Grace Kelly on her big day, choosing to wear a traditional, princess-esque wedding gown (that just so happened to be custom Dior), along with a pearl-encrusted headpiece and veil from world famous milliner Stephen Jones. Her beauty look was also taken out of Grace Kelly’s book—Kerr went with sleek, classic, and understated makeup, choosing to wear a pink lip and taupe eye shadow.
With all the glitz and glam presumed of a supermodel wedding, you would think her hair would have taken a team of people and products, not to mention a large chunk of time to create. But you’d be wrong: According to Kerr’s hairstylist, Ericka Verrett, who dished on Kerr’s nuptial day style to E! News, it only took 15 minutes and a few products. Keep reading to see how to replicate Kerr’s wedding day hair.
For her big day, Kerr actually recycled a hairstyle from the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscars Party. "It's super important for brides to choose wisely in the hair/makeup department," Verrett told E! News. "How many times have people looked back on their photos and wished they'd chose something simple? Decisions like that can make or break your special day!" That's why Kerr went for a look she knows works well for her—a sleek, middle-parted low bun. "We've done this style many times and it works with everything. It's elegant, chic and timeless—and she is all of those things."
The first step in creating this sophisticated style was a thickening spray like Morrocanoil's Root Boost ($48) at the roots of Kerr's hair and finger-combing it down. Next, a precise middle-parted low pony was created with a parting comb and a Mason Pearson Brush ($225). The low pony was then twisted into a chignon and held in place with a brown hair net and pins. To smooth away flyaways and perfect the style, a small amount of Styling wax was applied. Try Sachajuan Hair Wax ($35) warmed between fingers. Finally, for long-lasting hold, spritz the hair with hairspray. (We like Tresemmé's Styling Hairspray $8, for keeping hair super sleek).
Brides-to-be, take note: All it takes is 15 minutes to achieve pristine, nuptial-ready hair à la Miranda Kerr. Even though we're lacking in the Dior gown and pearl-encrusted veil department, it's a look virtually anyone can try.
