Zoë Foster Blake and I Are Both Obsessed With This Drugstore Lipstick
There's no denying Zoë Foster Blake has impeccable taste in beauty products (her own line, Go-To is also pretty special). That's why, when ZFB publicises her recommendations, I listen. Her latest is a post on her personal IG channel of some of her latest purchases whilst in the US (launching Go-To Skincare into Sephora U.S., no less). Among the haul were heroes like Charlotte Tilbury, Ellis Fass and Too Faced, along with a couple of drugstore gems from the likes of Maybelline—one of which I can confidently say is a 10/10 product (because I am also a fan).
While I don't normally make a fuss over matte lipsticks, the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink is an exception. It's light, wears well, doesn't crunch or ball up, and only costs $20. Plus, the shade "Heroine" (Zoë's shade of choice too) is the perfect punchy coral that works a treat for summertime. It won't rub all over your teeth when you're three margaritas deep on a Sunday afternoon either. As Zoë puts it, it's the ultimate "lazy girl cheat to a polished face".
Keep scrolling for the rest of her picks, and to shop the Maybelline lippie (your bank balance won't even hate you for it). Ahh, the joys of drugstore beauty.

Buying new makeup after using the same utilitarian kit for months is face Christmas. The focus for me is concealing and colour, because: 1. My hyperpigmentation flared in Europe, despite a ton of zinc each day, and hats, and All The Things. 2. I don’t think I’ve slept properly since we left, so my undereye bags are a cute shade of charcoal. 3. I've no time/inclination to do full makeup, so I focus on brows and bright lips most of the time. 4. CVS!!! ???? For those who care: The Too Faced Sculpting Concealer is full coverage and covers shit RIGHT up, but is radiant, not matte. Phew. The IT Cosmetics ByeBye Undereye is excellent as a corrector-concealer hybrid, cos it’s thick/full coverage, but still dewy, like my beloved Tarte creaseless concealer. (May its label not rub off and put sparkles all through my makeup bag like its CC cream big sister ????.) Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Eye Chrome in Beige Luster (bronze/shimmer) is a DEADRINGER for my much loved discontinued Clinique Muffin cream shadow, and the Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes (warm brown, matte finish) is my never-fail makeup staple. Charlotte Tilbury does no wrong, and her Beach Stick is a sheer, peachy, luminous creme blush that makes me feel fresh and at least a few months younger. The MAC Shape + Shade pen is good for feather-stroking or shading in brows cos it has a texta AND a powder, and that aggressively punchy matte ink lipstick (shade: Heroine) doesn’t dry out my lips much and is my lazy girl cheat to a polished face. And glitter tweezers because, just because.
