Lara Worthington Swears by These Low-Key Skincare Steps For a Glowing Complexion
While it’s no secret that Lara Worthington is an iconic figure in the Australian fashion world, we were excited to see her in a new role as creative director for Zulu & Zephyr’s Cami campaign. Working behind the lens this time, the model proved that she’s just as talented behind-the-scenes as she is in front of the lens. Having picked up beauty secrets throughout her career enabled Worthington to masterfully bring Zulu & Zypher’s autumn campaign to life. And of course, we couldn’t wait to get the inside scoop. We talked to Worthington about her routine as well as other skincare secrets; and you can bet we’ll be incorporating these tips into our everyday routines too. Keep reading for all the info.
How do you achieve a year-round glow? Do you think the ‘glow’ begins from within?
Of course I use my products from The Base, but I find working out, doing things that make me happy, and laughing a lot (I live with three boys!) helps me get a glow on. My trainer hounds me about drinking water (both during our sessions and otherwise). It's cliché advice, but it works!
Talk us through your current skincare routine.
My longtime friend and skin saviour Melanie Grant really coined the wash twice regime and I live by that. Then the usual suspects—sunscreen, moisturise, treat and cover any blemishes. I finish with a lip colour or balm and go.
What tips and tricks have you picked up in your career that you used on set for this campaign?
Definitely the idea that less is more. I always find letting the products settle into the skin throughout the day and only touching up when absolutely necessary gives a more believable finish. Both Zulu & Zephyr and The Base have a less is more aesthetic, so hair and makeup were kept very natural. As a result, it looked more lived-in, and got better as the day went on. I definitely stick to this in my day-to-day by reapplying lightly, when needed.
