Tame Your Oily T-Zone With This Genius Mask

Faith Xue

As someone with oily skin, I’ve never met a clay mask I didn’t like—but Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque ($23) holds a special place in my heart. First of all, I like when I can feel a mask working its magic, and this formula definitely gave off a tingling and tightening sensation right after I applied it. In fact, I almost want to describe it as a slight burning. I like imagining the Amazonian White Clay getting deep into my pores, cleaning and removing dead skin cells. I waited the suggested 10 minutes, rinsed it off with warm water and a washcloth, and peered expectantly in the mirror. No doubt about it: my skin was noticeably softer, smoother, and brighter. Most importantly, it felt clean. I slathered on my normal serum and nighttime lotion, and went to sleep feeling refreshed.

The next day, I marveled at how smoothly my foundation blended into my skin; for once, it felt balanced and normal.  At 2 p.m., I went to the bathroom for my daily afternoon powder-blot session and was surprised to discover that my T-zone was shine-free. Could it be? Could this miracle mask be the magic weapon I need to tame my oily skin, once and for all? Time will tell, but in the meantime, I’ll keep using this mask every week and enjoying my smooth, clean complexion.
