You'll Never Believe What This Sports Illustrated Model Eats for Dinner
Reminder: Summer is just 9 days away. That means bikini weather is on the horizon and I for one am kinda freaking out. While I subscribe to a healthy eating and exercise plan year-round, there's no denying the sunny season puts our bodies on full display. Call me crazy, but I don't think I'm the only girl in town looking for a few extra tweaks to maximise my body confidence...
In the interest of adding an extra layer of prep onto my standard workout schedule I reached out to Sports Illustrated model Joy Corrigan for ALL the tips. An international muse for fitspo fanatics everywhere, Corrigan is as well-known for her athletic physique and active lifestyle as she is her gorgeous face. The professional clotheshorse recently starred in a campaign celebrating the launch of both Ella Baché's new Great Bronze tanner and P.E Nation's latest collection. All bronzed skin, toned limbs and healthy living, the images are both summer, beauty and fitness goals all rolled into one. Ahead, you'll find the DL on everything from Corrigan's daily diet (her go-to dinner might just surprise you), to how she preps for a swimwear shoot.

Byrdie Australia: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Joy Corrigan: Drink matcha tea, check my email, and always have breakfast.
B: What does a day in your diet look like?
JC: I eat a plant-based diet, and am constantly snacking on raw fruits and veggies. My faves include; breakfast: coconut yoghurt topped with mixed berries, lunch and dinner: vegan, gluten-free pasta or veggie pizza.
B: What’s your biggest indulgence?
JC: Apple crumble with coconut ice cream, sprinkled with caramel popcorn.
B: Walk us through your weekly workout schedule.
JC: I love hot yoga and boxing—I try to do either two or three times a week. I also like to incorporate a workout into my everyday activities, such as taking a scenic hike or going vintage shopping.
B: How do you exercise when you travel?
JC: I make sure I do squats and leg lifts in the hotel room. I also love to sight-see and discover new places, so walking or jogging around is a great way to see a new city and stay in shape.
B: What’s your favourite exercise for rock-hard abs?
JC: Boxing. The intense cardio helps to melt belly fat and keep my core strong.
B: What’s the best piece of fitness advice you’ve ever received?
JC: I have to agree with the saying, "You are what you eat." I can work out for hours but if I'm not fueling my body with the right nutrition it's hard to get the results I want.
B: Is there anything special you do in the lead up to a swimwear or activewear shoot?
JC: I always make sure to prep my skin, especially my tan. Ella Baché’s Great Bronze ($45) is the perfect self-tanning lotion for getting natural colour without going in the sun.
B: What’s your best tip for being confident at the beach?
JC: A swimsuit that fits really well is a great start. I love the new sporty pieces by P.E Nation—my fave is the Turbo Dis Bikini ($149).
B: What’s your best inner beauty tip?
JC: Green juice. I drink it every day.
B: Describe your morning beauty routine.
JC: I cleanse my face of any impurities using Ella Baché’s Radiance Foaming Cleanser ($42), then I add moisture with Weleda’s Almond Soothing Facial Lotion ($27). And I top it off with a lightweight sunscreen.
Which beauty products can’t you live without during summer?
JC: Ella Baché’s Great 50+ Sportsbloc Active ($66), coconut oil and—since I’ve been in Australia—paw paw cream.
B: How do you keep your blonde hair in good condition during summer?
JC: Coconut oil is a great treatment, I apply it on my ends and leave it in overnight. On my days off I always let my hair air-dry, the less heat the better!
