This Model-Approved Combat Sport Is Your Answer to a Flat Tummy
For some, getting into shape is often a last-minute attempt in the weeks leading up to bikini season, or a 72-hour stint right before a vacation. Jesinta Franklin is an exception to this. The model and David Jones ambassador is trim, toned, and at the top of her fitness game 365 days of the year.
How does one achieve such feats, we hear you ask? While it's easy to put it down to genetics, hard work and hours grinding at the gym are more accurate when it comes to Franklin. Her abs have been featuring heavily on our feeds this past week and it's pretty clear she's doing something right—did you see her in that Tigerlily bikini in the David Jones S/S 17 show? In an interview with Jones magazine, Franklin revealed that her amazing figure is actually the product of Muay Thai, a form of kickboxing that works the mind as hard as the body.

Muay Thai is a contact sport that is all about striking and clinching (grappling). Franklin is a long-time fan of kickboxing, but took up Muay Thai wanting to challenge herself. Even though it's a world away from your standard gym seshs, it does a world of good for your mid-section. "If you practise Muay Thai properly, everything comes from your core and it’s activated for most of the session," explains Franklin. If kickboxing sounds like something you'd like to try, you can make a small start by jumping rope (try Celsius Weighted Skipping Rope, $20). "A skipping rope is something I use daily," Franklin says. If you're really keen to give it a serious go, Brendan McDonnell is the man behind Franklin's techniques (and "accidental" six-pack, apparently).
