Isabelle Cornish Let Us in on Her Low-Key Beauty Handbag Essentials
As the face of Revlon’s latest campaign #GoSlay—a project designed to showcase the brand’s best-selling ColorStay foundation—Australian actress Isabelle Cornish was challenged to seek out and photograph unique “real” women on the busy streets of New York. Despite what must have been a full-on day, Cornish went 24-hours without touching up her makeup, demonstrating the long-lasting nature of the product. In town to unveil the partnership, we grabbed a few minutes alone with the rising star to chat all things beauty.
While we expected Cornish to be a wealth of information on skincare—she’s big into wellness—we were thrilled to discover she’s just as knowledgeable when it comes to makeup. (Par for the course in her industry, we’re sure.) From the low-key handbag essentials she won’t leave home without to her go-to concealer, the actress was forthcoming about her favourite products and beauty tips. Our favourite? An alternative, and thrifty, use for hairspray.

BYRDIE AUSTRALIA: How would you describe your personal approach to beauty?
ISABELLE CORNISH: It’s all about simplicity, longevity and a natural look. My approach has evolved over time—when I was younger I used to not care so much about the long-term and would go in the sun without sunscreen. Now I’m all about preventing damage I can stay looking younger for longer.
B: Describe your morning beauty routine.
IC: Usually, I’ll get up and wash my face. Next, I’ll use an organic hydrating mist toner, especially in winter, and a light moisturiser mixed with 50+ sunscreen. Then I’ll start with my makeup. On the day-to-day I keep it simple and minimal. I’ll usually use mascara, Revlon’s ColorStay Concealer ($27) on any spots, and some light pink blush.
B: Walk us through your evening beauty routine.
IC: So, in the evening I’ll usually do a pre-cleanse with an oil cleanser to get all the makeup on my skin off. Then I’ll wash my face with a Mukti Organics cleanser, and apply a light anti-ageing night serum. I put some paw paw ointment on my lips, and that’s it. I like to let my skin breathe throughout the night.
B: Are there certain skincare products you reach for more often during winter?
IC: Yes! Coconut oil—morning and night that stuff goes all over my body. In winter I’ll also often use a hydrating toner instead of a refreshing toner, plus a thicker moisturiser. I’ll go for something oil-based and super-hydrating for the colder weather.
B: What makeup trend are you into right now?
IC: I love a bold red lip. I like it year-round but it’s especially perfect in the winter. And a classic liquid eyeliner, too.
B: Which beauty items do you always have in your handbag, no matter what?
IC: Paw paw ointment, concealer, Revlon’s Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor ($25) in Temptation. And brow gel! I love brow gel. One more would be sunscreen.
B: What’s one beauty product people would be surprised to know you love?
IC: I love to use hairspray to tame my eyebrows. If I have a can of hairspray with me, I can do anything!
