If there's one thing I love, it's when a low-key hairstyle starts to get a lot more airplay. While I'm all for tousled waves (the kind that take approximately three years to perfect), some days it's nice to know you've got an option that's both elevated and able to be turned out before your toast is done. One such style is the low bun, which is currently going gangbusters on Instagram thanks to fashion girls. You may not consider something so laidback to be a hairstyle per se, but the fact influencers are embracing it speaks volumes. These are women who make a living in large part from looking current, so you can bet them opting for low buns is a style choice rather than a time-saving measure.
Carmen Hamilton is my own personal champion for the trend, tying her signature lob back into a mussed-up knot on more than just the odd occasion. But she's not the only influencer to get amongst—everyone from Sara Donaldson to Brooke Testoni has been snapped (and uploaded) wearing similar styles. To recreate the look yourself, keep things imperfect with a stellar texturising spray like Oribe's cult favourite, or Ouai's version (available at Sephora). Then all you need is a hair elastic in the same shade as your strands, maybe a bobby pin or two, and something to do with the rest of your morning.
