Jen Atkin's New Hair "Foam" Takes Dry Shampoo to the Next Level
One of the most common questions we hear from Byrdie readers is how they can get away with going more than a day or two without washing their hair. Here's how Ouai's new product works: Coming out of the bottle in foam form, almost like a mousse, the formula is centered around two key ingredients. The first is something called diatomaceous earth (which sounds a bit like the name of a sci-fi movie), which works to nix dirt and buildup from your hair and scalp. The second is panthenol, which acts as a conditioner to restore softness.
As Atkin demonstrates in the video above, applying the product is very simple. Massage a dollop of foam into your roots, just like you'd do with regular shampoo in the shower. The product dries almost instantly, leaving your hair clean and volumised. Atkin uses the product on her third-day hair, which looks alarmingly fresh and full afterward.
Ouai's foam is sulfate-free and cruelty-free, so you can go days without showering and not feel a tinge of ethical guilt. Better yet, the product flaunts the brand's signature gardenia scent, which has stolen the hearts of every editor at Byrdie Australia.
