How to Get Rid of Your Annoying Cowlick
You may not even know the official term for it, but a cowlick is that annoying, frustrating, stubborn part of your hair that grows in a different direction than the rest, and thus bugs the heck out of you. Often at the front of your hair, the crown, or the back, the hair won't lie flat and sort of pokes out so you just can't ignore it. But luckily, concealing the look of a cowlick can be done with a styling trick, and we're here to share it with you today. So keep scrolling for the simple key to kicking your cowlick to the curb.
The good news is that you can train that stubborn piece of hair to fall flat in the opposite direction—it's not a lost cause. The key to getting rid of a cowlick is in focusing on the root of your hair as you blow-dry. Says celebrity and editorial hairstylist Bobby Eliot, the best way to manage your cowlick is to start off blow-drying using a wrap technique. "Using a Denman brush (aka a flat brush), you want to wrap the brush over the cowlick back and forth in every direction (left, right, up, and down) with the blow-dryer following your brush," he says. "This will allow for root lift and will make your cowlick a lot more manageable," he says. Finish the blowout by blowing in the direction you want the hair to go, then secure it in place with a bobby pin until it cools. How easy is that? If it's still giving you problems, which it shouldn't when blown dry this way, you can use a bit of pomade for extra hold.
