Get The Look: Rose Byrne
Blunder dusted Chanel’s Powder Blush ($43) in In Love all over Byrne’s cheeks--the apples and the cheekbone. “It has luminosity to give a slight glow,” she says.
“Our inspiration was Kate Moss,” says Blunder, so she lined Byrne’s eyes with Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner ($30) in Black Shimmer, smudging the colour all around the actress’ lash line, but skipped Byrne’s waterline to keep her eyes looking bright. Three coats of the brand’s Le Volume de Chanel Mascara ($30) finished her eyes.
Nailing a soft eye look lies in the right tools. “A fluffy brush picks up the right amount of product and blends it really nicely,” Blunder says. She used M.A.C.’s 217 Blending Brush ($23) to apply shades from Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad ($59) in Premier Regard: the top left hue on the actress’ lid and the bottom right colour in her crease.
For lips to match Byrne’s Pucci dress, Blunder applied Chanel’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour ($34) in Gracile.
“If you’re wearing eye shadow, save concealer and powder for last. It’ll help you clean up any product that’s landed under the eyes,” says Blunder. She applied Trish McEvoy’s Flawless Concealer Pen ($38) under Byrne’s eyes and dusted Tarte’s Smooth Operator Finishing Powder ($29) on the actress’ T-zone.
“Rose’s dress was very ladylike, so my first reaction was to go textured and undone with her hair,” says hairstylist Richard Marin. He prepped the actress’ naturally wavy locks with Bumble and bumble’s Surf Spray ($24) and blow-dried just her roots. Byrne has thick hair, but if you have fine or layered hair Marin recommends blow-drying your tresses upside down with a diffuser.
Marin smoothed Byrne’s roots and any frizzy ends with a flat iron, giving the actress’ hair a little bend with the iron. To finish, he raked Rene Furterer’s Matte Modelling Paste ($24) through the actress’ hair from root to tip.
