Ever since Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty, makeup enthusiasts world-over have been obsessed with the line. From the 40-shade foundation range, to the universally flattering lip paint, her products have been flying off Sephora shelves across the globe. Her brand not only acknowledges and serves a diverse customer base, it also encourages individuality and creativity through beauty. And Fenty's new range, Beach, Please, is no different.

Focusing on brightly-hued highlighters and iridescent lip glosses, the products are inspired by the Caribbean summer and will definitely be brightening up our Australian winter. I was lucky enough to attend a makeup masterclass led by Fenty Beauty's Global Makeup Artist, Hector Espinal, where he shared some absolutely face-changing makeup tips. In fact, he shared the very tricks Rihanna uses every day. Keep scrolling for the three tricks I've been using ever since I got the inside scoop—they're about to help you achieve that Fenty glow.

APPLY HIGHLIGHTER IN A STRAIGHT LINE

Traditionally, highlighter has been applied in a C-shape from the cheekbone, around the eye, and above the brow-bone. Rihanna, however, only wears it in a straight line, applied from the apple of the cheek to the hairline. This not only makes the entire cheek appear higher, but also allows you to incorporate different shades of eyeshadow by sweeping it upwards and blending. Hector demonstrated the look on model Nyaluak Leth, using the Killawatt Foil Highlighter in Sangria Sunrise ($54) and Trophy Wife ($50)

NEVER FORGET THE EARS

While Hector has previously emphasised the importance of adding highlighter to your ears, he really addressed the need to put foundation on your ears as well. Most people usually stop at the cheek, but Hector says often this makes ears appear red, and he's not wrong. He drew Fenty's Pro Filt'r Foundation ($50) up to Nyaluak's ears by using a brush in circular motions.

APPLY EYESHADOW WITH A HIGHLIGHT BRUSH

This was possibly the greatest discovery of the day. Hector uses the Fenty Beauty Cheek-Hugging Highlight Brush ($46) not only on the cheeks as the name suggests, but also to apply eye makeup. Here, he dabbed the brush into the aforementioned Sangria Sunrise, pressed it into the eyelid, and held it there for a few seconds before sweeping it outwards and upwards. If you're used to applying eyeshadow with smaller brushes, this technique will really add a wow factor with just one sweeping move.

Fun fact: Rihanna invented this brush herself by simply taking a pair of scissors to a regular highlight brush. Revolutionary.

Nyaluak also wears the Fenty Beauty Summer Daze Iridescent Lip Luminizer in Ready to Mingle ($46) and we can attest to both its pearlescent shine and hydrating properties. For more Rihanna-inspired makeup tips and tricks, see the 8 Beauty Secrets We Learned From Rihanna's Makeup Tutorial.
