The analysis found that the women who drank four or more cups of coffee per day had the lowest risk of rosacea compared to those who only drank one cup of coffee each month. Essentially, the study implies that if you're an avid coffee drinker of four or more cups a day you're 23 percent less likely to develop rosacea. Consuming caffeine with chocolate, tea, and soda did not have the same results.
The Sun reports that experts from Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University find this to be true because caffeine constricts blood vessels, which reduces redness and inflammation associated with rosacea. Although this study focused on the risk of developing rosacea, it could also help those who are already dealing with the condition. According to The New York Times, Wen-Qing Li, an assistant professor of dermatology at Brown University, this could aid in calming rosacea overtime. "We would positively anticipate that caffeine intake and caffeinated coffee consumption may be beneficial for lessening rosacea severity as well,” Li told The New York Times. “But this would require further clinical investigation.”
