It’s here: 31 days. 31 cities. 31 perspectives. Each day in the month of March, we’re profiling an inspiring woman from across the world and asking her to share her beauty routine, products, and wellness secrets. Consider this your firsthand look into the beauty traditions and cultures of your beauty-obsessed counterparts from Thailand, Nigeria, and more (and don’t forget to check our Instagram for a beauty-themed global takeover each day). Up next, Toronto-based beauty guru and mother of two Sari Friedman shares the drugstore eye balm she’s obsessed with and what wellness activity Canadian girls can’t get enough of.

What countries and cultures do you find most inspirational when it comes to beauty?
France—there is something so mesmerising about French girls. This ability to look so done yet so effortless boggles my mind. I try to achieve that every day.
The most popular products and brands in your country right now:
We Canadians love to support local brands: Bite Beauty, NudeStix, The Ordinary. Glossier is really getting popular since it launched Canadian shipping in September.
The most popular beauty trends in your country right now:
I feel like the Canadian girl wants that all-natural, no-makeup makeup look. No heavy contouring, etc. A lot of focus on all-natural products and glowing skin (from skincare to lip products like dewy foundations and ultra moisturising lip balms). Also a big focus on supplements as more brands start to come to Canada (collagen supplements etc.).
Favourite traditional beauty secret from your country:
I think Canadian’s really understand the importance of rest and balance when it comes to beauty.
Where you buy beauty products:
Jason Lee Salon, Deciem, Sephora, Shoppers Beauty Department, Koreatown for great K-Beauty products, and Health Hut.
What does “healthy living” mean to you?
Finding balance in the craziness that is my life with a busy career and two kids under 4—being able to excel at work, keep everyone happy, and then still finding time to take care of myself (working out, self-care, beauty).
How do you define/practice self-care?
Taking whatever time I can find to do the things that make me feel good about myself. Doing my makeup, getting to the gym—taking the time at night to indulge in my skincare routine (10 products!).
What’s your favourite way to stay active and why?
I love circuit and weight training. Circuit 60 at Track Fitness in Toronto is my favourite class. I love the release I feel when I really get to expand energy and push myself.
What’s your favourite healthy meal?
I love a great salad with tons of yummy things in it.
What are the most popular wellness trends in your country right now?
The green beauty revolution is growing here for sure. Big focus on local, sustainable, small-batch products.
