6 Things a Wellness Influencer Keeps in Her Bag at All Times
Geri Hirsch, founder of Because I'm Addicted, is as proud California girl, born and raised in Los Angeles. After finishing business school and feeling unfulfilled at my her very serious first job, she started blogging in 2005 as a creative outlet and has been doing it ever since. Nowadays, she loves sharing inspiration for fashion, recipes, and a lifestyle that feels good and is full of balance (think red wine with a side of dry brushing). You can find her and her wellness-obsessed husband in L.A., travelling, listening to old records, and planting in their organic garden. We're thrilled to have her on as a contributor for THE/THIRTY, where she'll be sharing her health, diet, and wellness pointers each month.
I’ve always loved the “What’s in Her Bag” features in magazines or on blogs. It’s endlessly intriguing to see what other women carry around all day and to see the products they quite literally can’t leave home without. Even more exciting: when those bags are full of wellness-y goodness… like mine. These are the products that keep me living well, whether in Los Angeles or on the road.
Copper water bottle
Full of alkaline water, obviously. We all know it’s essential to a thriving body to stay hydrated, but real wellness girls take it a step further with their own bottle and water. I always carry my own bottle so I don’t lead to the over consumption of plastic, and copper and glass ones keep your water safe. Alkaline H20 is rid of the chemicals found in a lot of tap and even bottled water.
I’m that girl on the plane (or bathroom, car, etc.) wiping down everything, and it gives me peace of mind to know I’m doing that without chemicals. If you buy gentle enough wipes, you can even use them on your skin post workout or whenever you need a refresher. A clean environment leads to a clean system!
Ain’t no shame in admitting I carry this stuff with me. Non-toxic deodorant is a life-saver, but it doesn’t always last as long as the aluminum-heavy options. But no sweat (had to): I simply carry a travel-size with me and reapply as needed.
I have a friend who is constantly glowing. Her trick? A face spray (Herbivore Rose Spray, $45, to be exact). I’ve since mimicked her secret and spritz an incredible spray whenever I need a pick-me-up. It doubles as a fragrance, too, but without the toxins found in most mainstream perfumes. A dewy complexion compliments of rose water at any time of day!
Lavender essential oil
Living in L.A. comes with traffic—and lots of it. If I’m feeling stressed by the 405 or prepping for a big meeting, I dab lavender oil on my temples and breathe. The scent is known to lower stress levels and is a natural chill pill. If I’m parked, I close my eyes and meditate for 10 minutes. Heaven!
And last but not least: food! Living that wellness life requires constant access to smart choices in the food department, so you’ll always find healthy options in my purse. From raw pistachios to almonds or cashews, I carry a glass container of nuts wherever I go. I’m also a big fan of dried fruit, seeds, and raw veggies.
