11 Out-of-This-World Beauty Products We Can't Stop Talking About
Things I don't love about July: the weather (sideways rain, I hate you), the Jon Snow-shaped hole left in my life for another 12 months, and the fact that margaritas are out of season. (On the plus side, red wine rules, and I like being able to blame never leaving home on the BOM.) All whingeing aside, mid-winter is the perfect time to dive deep into skincare, particularly since many of us are prone to irritation and dehydration this time of year. It's also a fun time to mix up your makeup textures since whatever you apply is likely to stay on a lot longer than it would in January. (Hashtag, silver lining.) Ahead, you'll find 11 products I can't stop talking about, from a multi-tasking cream that adds magical luminosity to any makeup product you mix it with, to a de-puffing eye cream that works in minutes, keep scrolling to see what they are.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules ($168)
There's no way to say this without sounding like I'm on Estee Lauder's payroll, but these single-serve treatments are AMAZING. Each ampoule contains a silky serum geared towards tackling irritation, even the short-term use of which results in a stronger skin barrier. Use them when your stress levels are sky high to help boost both recovery and glow.
Jurlique Activating Water Essence ($70)
Add an essence to your skincare routine and you'll never look back. They're the simplest (and fastest!) way to boost moisture, and supercharge the effects of the products that follow. This one contains marshmallow root extract, a buzzy ingredient that softens and balances.
This product launches on July 3.
Paula's Choice Resist 10% Niacinamide Booster ($67)
Niacinamide (aka vitamin B3), has been proven to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores *and* wrinkles. (Side note: It can also help with fading post-acne marks.) Apply the lightweight formula as is, or use it to "boost" another serum or moisturiser.
Mistake-proof? Tick. Subtle? Double tick. This balmy stick just cut my highlighting routine down to a few quick swipes.
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick in Red-y, Set, Go! ($14)
This sheer lip shade feels like a balm on lips. (It's so comfy you might even forget it's there.) Perfect for adding a low-maintenance pop of colour, the creamy formula also allows you the option of building up coverage for extra impact.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Radiant Makeup ($58)
This is cushion foundation but not as you know it. A makeup product and applicator tool in one, it allows you to apply (or touch-up) on the go. The clever packaging makes it conveniently portable, but the foundation itself is the real star. It's light and dewy, and leaves skin gorgeously glowy.
Clinique Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover Stick ($33)
Think of this makeup remover as a cleansing balm in stick form, that also happens to be gentle enough for use around the eyes. It works by transforming into a cleansing oil that dissolves even longwear makeup. Great for travel, it means double-cleansers only need tote one bottle along with them.
Philosophy Take A Deep Breath Oxygenating Eye Gel Cream ($45)
When a colleague with puffy eyes begged me to help, I gave her this cooling gel-cream to try. Not only did it tighten up the area within 15-minutes (shoutout to de-puffing barley extract), it brightened the skin as well.
This product launches on July 30.
