This Winter Breakfast Recipe Is the Ultimate Mood-Booster, According to Science
As sun-drenched days and balmy nights melt seemingly further and further away, it's not difficult to feel a little blue as we make a beeline for winter. The days are shorter, colder, and drearier, and leaving the comforts of bed can become an increasingly difficult feat. If you're looking for holistic ways to keep your mood stable, look no further than your serotonin levels. According to the experts at Swisse, serotonin (otherwise known as the happy hormone,) is a chemical neurotransmitter thought to affect your mood, memory, sleep, and behaviour. Foods that are known to promote the production of serotonin are varied, but seeing as eggs, cheese, pineapple, and salmon are on the list, a salmon omelette with a side of pineapple juice seems like a pretty good brekky option, does it not?

Ingredients (serves two):
Dash of water
1/2 cup of cheese of your choice (we love fetta)
Salt and pepper
1/2 pineapple, chopped
One cup coconut water
Smoked salmon and parsley, to serve
- Whisk eggs with water, salt, and pepper before pouring half the mixture into a hot pan.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Once it's almost cooked through, carefully flip in half.
- Repeat, and plate with salmon, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Add coconut water and pineapple to blender until smooth.
- Divide in half, and serve.
