These Are the Anti-Ageing Products We Tell Our Friends to Buy
For us, working in beauty means access to just about every anti-ageing product and treatment available. From potent serums and wrinkle-fighting night creams to laser facials and derma-rolling, if it's out there, there's a good chance at least one Byrdie Australia editor has tried it. (Or, in the case of a certain game-changing sunscreen, quite a few of us—more on that below.) As you can imagine, being a professional beauty guinea pig is pretty fun. That said, it's not something we take lightly. Discovering new brands, test driving buzzy ingredients and measuring up the month's launches against everything else on the market is all part of the job. And it's important because we strive to recommend the best. (Read: The stuff that's worth your hard-earned cash.)
Still, there is SO MUCH on offer in the anti-ageing category that it's practically impossible to present a comprehensive edit of the "best" products. For one thing, we're all different skin types. For another, we span age groups with different needs, from early 20s through the 30s. Basically, you'd be scrolling forever... Instead, I asked the Byrdie Australia team to share the only youth-boosting products they tell their friends to buy. Because if they're recommending it to a mate, you can bet it's doing good things for their skin. What follows is a cross-section of the best anti-ageing skincare we've tried, and what we use on the daily. Hope you've already paid rent this month...

Kora Organics Recovery Eye Gel Cream ($55)
"Packed with organic seaweed to help boost collagen production, this gel cream also happens to be super-soothing. It almost feels like putting slices of cucumber over your eyes! When I use it regularly I notice the lines near the outer corners of my eyes fade considerably. I have recommended this to many friends and they are now all hooked on everything Kora Organics."
Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen SPF 50+ ($40)
"This stuff is magic! It has illuminiser built-in which leaves a subtle pearly glow on your skin. Plus, you don't need to use primer afterwards. I know there's no way the sun is damaging my skin when I layer this protective lotion under my makeup."
Rodin Olio Lusso Crema Luxury Hand & Body Cream ($123)
"I first sampled this luxury hand cream in store at Mecca and instantly fell in love. The lotion's rich consistency feels as if it's instantly healing your hands—even reversing the clock! The scent is so lovely I could reapply it all day long."
Ultraceuticals Even Skintone Serum Mild ($99)
"I'm evangelical about this stuff—it's that good. Skin guru Jocelyn Petroni put me onto it after I begged her for a quick solution to a bout of congestion. A cocktail of BHA, AHA and Bearberry extract, it gently tackles both blemishes and hyperpigmentation. If they ever stop making it, I'll protest."
Galderma Actinica Liposomal Sunscreen ($40)
"I believe there is zero point investing in professional facials or proper skincare if you don't wear sunscreen every.single.day. I can't think of one facialist who hasn't named SPF as their number one anti-ageing product. This one is so hydrating I can skip moisturiser, and it also smells faintly coconut-y, which I love. Skin whisperer Melanie Grant originally recommended it to me—now I tell everyone else."
Cosmedix Define Resurfacing Treatment ($117)
"This stuff has transformed my skin. I only use it twice a week at night, but the next day I wake up with a new face. It contains vitamin A which gently exfoliates, stimulates collagen production, hydrates, tackles fine lines, and boosts dat glo. It's a miracle worker."
Perricone MD Re:Firm Eye ($168)
"My Greek heritage is fab in that I rarely get sunburnt (I’m also programmed to love eating watermelon and feta together), but it has cursed me with dark circles. No matter how much I sleep they don’t budge, but this eye cream definitely helps. It works by plumping up the skin and reducing puffiness."
Kiehl's Creme de Corps ($33)
"We're all battling to keep our faces youthful forever, but it’s important to assess what’s going on from the neck down. The skin on your body can easily give away your age, so I take care to moisturise from top to toe. I dry body brush before I shower, then massage this lotion all over while my skin is still damp. (A little trick Kim Kardashian taught me.)"
