This Will Be the Biggest Hair Colour Trend in 2017
While Australia isn't the birthplace of balayage (that'd be France FYI), we sure have embraced the hair colour technique as a country. Beauty eds generally agree that the trend officially kicked off in Sydney when hairstylist Brad Ngata took Pip Edwards' ends blonde nine long years ago. Blame it on our affinity for sun-kissed highlights and surf-bleached strands, but regardless of the speed with which hair colour trends move on elsewhere, we're STILL obsessed with ombré. (See: Babylights, tiger eye hair and even hair contouring.)
While we're not yet over the face-flattering effect a little balayage can deliver, we are forever on the hunt for ways to make the trend feel fresh. Which brings me to a recent Pinterest report detailing the social media company's trend predictions for 2017. According to Pinterest, the next iteration of balayage is set to be all about ashy tones. From extra-cool blonde, to straight-up grey, there's no doubt ash balayage is going off on Pinterest. (Also, Instagram—many of the most repinned images are linked directly to IG.) We love it because this new look delivers the same carefree vibe as the original version, but with a little extra edge. Keen to shake up your colour this summer?

How beautiful is this colour? A combo of light-catching blonde highlights painted over a mauve-brown base colour makes serious hair magic.
