5 Places You Aren't Using Concealer (But Should)
You’re a pro at hiding your dark circles, and zits have nothing on you. But if those are the only ways you’re using your go-to concealer, you’re not experiencing its full potential. As we’ve learned from makeup artists, models, and others in the know, just a few deft dabs in places you wouldn’t expect can completely refine and subtly transform your face—sometimes eliminating the need for foundation altogether. (Seriously!)
See five underrated places we love applying concealer below.
BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer ($31)
Makeup artist Kelsey Dennihan clued us into this genius trick: Apply concealer from outer corners of your eyes upward, toward your brow bone. “The end effect is an instant eye-lift and tricks people into thinking you’re actually awake,” she says. (Even more so than curling our lashes, we’ve found.)
RMS Beauty "Un" Cover Up ($55)
This game-changing tip deserves a crowning slot in our beauty tip hall of fame: Dab some creamy concealer around your nostrils and along your laugh lines for a brightening, smoothing effect to your face that isn’t unlike a real-life Instagram filter. It’s unexpected, but it seriously works.
Bobbi Brown Face Touch-Up Stick ($42)
Did you know that a cream concealer works wonderfully as a dewy highlighter in a pinch? I’ve found this tip especially helpful during the summer months, when my face is a little more bronzed than usual—it’s a great way to put my paler, winter concealer to good use. (Bonus tip: Swipe it along the bridge of your nose to sculpt it and hide blackheads in one go.)
Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer ($32)
We’ve said it before: You have every reason to treat your neck and décolletage as well as you do your face. This mainly concerns skincare and anti-ageing, but blemishes are fair game too—don’t be afraid to conceal any unsightly bumps or marks on your chest. (Just keep in mind that you may need a different shade.)
