The Hair Comb: Your Next Must-Have Hair Accessory
We can’t remember the last time we saw a hair comb—especially on the red carpet. But Annabelle Dexter-Jones, the youngest of the Ronson clan and a successful designer and model in her own right, tucked the retro accessory into her glossy blonde bob at a screening of Ain’t Them Bodies Saints in New York last week. What, we wondered, inspired her to bring back the comb?
“I used to wear these headbands everyday,” she says, calling from an ashram. “I’d buy them from this super old school company called Alexandre de Paris every time I was in Paris.” Last time she was in the shop she spotted an array of hair combs in black and tortoiseshell. “Each one has a little ‘A’ on it, so that’s another reason to like them—my initial!” Dexter-Jones picked up one in each colour and then promptly let them sit on her vanity. “They’re so pretty, but I didn’t wear them for a long time,” she says, adding that it was difficult to figure out exactly how. Turns out a bit of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($39) and a laidback side part are key. We might not have a monogrammed version for you, but you’ll find winning options on Etsy, like this Antique Victorian Tortoisehell Comb ($110) or this Antique Hair Comb ($32). France Luxe’s Small Basic Wire Combs ($46) are another simple option—as for how you wear it, well, there’s really no wrong way!
