The Nude Nail Polish Collection That Caters For All Skin Tones
Like many women, I've spent years wearing nude nail polish without ever really unpacking what the words "nude" or "skin-coloured" mean. Why? I'm Caucasian. Having never encountered a problem finding a nude to suit me, it hand't really crossed my mind. (That sounds hella ignorant, but it's true.) I remained fairly unaware of the issue until a friend with gorgeously deep Filipino skin complained to me that she couldn't find a nude polish to suit her. That can't be right! I thought. But on investigation, it was. In the world of cosmetics, "nude" generally refers to a limited selection of light-ish hues ranging from soft pink to beige. The problem, of course, is that for women with darker skin tones, this basic selection of hues are not always au naturel at all. (One woman's birthday suit is another woman's soft pastel pink/rich chocolate brown.)
Enter: Sally Hansen. Following in the footsteps of Christian Louboutin (who created a collection of "nude" shoes to match a wider range of skin tones), the brand has just dropped a limited edition range of six polishes designed to do exactly the same thing.
