Olivia Palermo's Messy Bun Is Perfect for Sydney's Rainy Weather
If you read Byrdie Australia on the reg, you'll be well aware that our obsession with Olivia Palermo's beauty style continues to go from strength the strength. Every time OP steps out the door, we gush over whatever outstanding hair or makeup look she's decided to own for the day. Case in point: Even Palemo's routine walks with her adorable pooch, Mr Butler, double as beauty opps.
Known for her eclectic but demure style, Palermo pulls off everything from glowing skin accessorised with a swipe of pink lipstick, to intricate braids and eccentric hair accessories with ease. With a personal style portfolio us mere mortals could only dream of, we're continuously impressed with the fashion and beauty icon's versatility. To wit, one of our favourite things about OP is her ability to take a simple hairstyle (see: this ponytail), and transform it into something outstandingly stylish and effortless. Usually left for days we just NEED our hair off our faces (or when we're about to cleanse, tone and moisturise), we've 'til now considered it a lazy way to groom our hair. Needless to say, one look at Olivia's magically tousled cool-girl up-do has changed that.
Below, we've curated Palermo's very best beauty looks (both hair and makeup) this year, so far. From her perfectly tousled ponytail to her punchy pink lipstick, it's all here. Ready to screenshot?

Olivia has taken braids to another level by using her own hair as a hair tie. OP used the left-over end piece of her braid to hold her pony in place, genius.
Try, Burt's Bees Lip Shine in Pucker ($10) for the stained lip just like Olivia.
Hello Blair Waldorf! This headband mixed with mini braids is genius. We always knew Olivia was the real leading lady of New York. Get the Upper East Side look yourself with this Givenchy Headband ($600).
Matching doesn't have to be reserved for dress up's or young girls, it can be fabulous on anyone. OP likens her eye shadow to her nude lip flawlessly, giving her a creamy neutral complexion. Try it for yourself with this Marc Jacobs Beauty Gel Lipstick in In the Mood ($36).
Can we just say, wow. Talk about complimenting your outfit! We didn't even know it was possible to match your eye makeup to your jumper and your lipstick to your scarf and still look cool. Don't forget the hair, seamlessly glossy and silky looking, Olivia nails in again.
Try this Lipstick Queen's Butterfly Ball Shimmer Treatment in Goodbye ($35) for a similar look.
The style queen let her hair do the talking as she endorsed the #1 makeup trend of 2017, glowing skin and flushed lips. Straying from her signature middle part, a deep side part gave extra oomph to OP's tonged hair.
Hair trend alert: Olivia is single-handedly bringing back the ballerina bun with this glossy black grosgrain ribbon and slick low bun combo. Shop the Olivia-approved accessory here.
While we can't definitely confirm the texture-boosting product OP has used here, to us it screams Ouai's Wave Spray ($36.) A few rounds with a hot tong gives extra definition without taking things into glamour territory.
Here, Olivia proves that a little trim goes a long way. A subtle snip here and there has left her ends looking fuller and more alive. Replicate the look by combing in a middle part and working a fingerful of texturising paste ($35) into the mid-lengths and ends.
Olivia's skin really glows here and it's not just down to her highlighter. DYK bright raspberry lipstick ($55) can pep up a tired complexion? (It's true.) She seamlessly finishes off the look with an undone bun, and a few delicate strands framing her face.
This is how Olivia does casual. Read: Relaxed hair, and minimal makeup, and is that the same lipstick she wore in the image above? For a similar shade try Bite Beauty's Luminous Creme Lipstick in Vigne ($38).
A lesson in pimping a simple pony. Step 1: Add movement via a texturising spray ($13) before you tie your hair back. Step 2: Tuck any loose bits behind your ears. Easy, right?
