This Fashion Insider Shares Her Luxe Night-time Beauty Routine
Megan Hess is the epitome of a busy modern woman. A world-renowned fashion illustrator, she's worked with some of the most illustrious designers and luxury brands in existence. Think: Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Ladurée and Cartier. (She's even worked with Michelle Obama—impressed yet?) Hess' inspirations are varied (she credits everything from travel to '70s cocktails with stimulating her creativity), but there's one thing in particular she relies on to do her best work—sleep. A fan of taking time out to unwind before bed, Hess' unhurried night-time beauty routine is as blissful as it is clever. For one, she's in the habit of creating a serene environment using calming scents. She also keeps a mini notebook by her bed in case a idea manifests overnight. It makes sense then, that Hess recently joined forces with premium sleepwear brand Papinelle to create a collection based around an imaginary hotel called The Grand Hotel Deluxe, in Hess' words: "The perfect place to escape to". To celebrate, we quizzed Hess on everything from her night-time beauty regimen to the sleep help book that changed her life.

"I switch off my phone before 8 p.m. and try to not look at it again until the morning. I know what a big effect the blue light from the screen has on my sleep, so its a rule I really try to keep to."
"I love to make either a hot chocolate or chamomile tea before bed—something about a hot drink at night just makes me sleepy."
"I love a hot bath before bed—in fact I can’t get to sleep without one if its been a really tiring day. I’ll put Epsom salts in the bath to really relax my muscles. Other nights I’ll just use some of my bath oils. Jo Malone's Red Roses ($85) is my favourite."

At the end of the day the cleanser is the one product that is just so lovely and makes you feel so amazing after using it. I could never give it up. I also love really beautiful bath oils, Chanel No. 5 oil is a favourite. I have also become obsessed with Aerin’s Rose de Grasse ($295). I often give myself a little spritz of it just before sleep. It’s the most beautiful soft rose scent."
