Tutorial: A Spring-Ready Negative Space Mani
Coachella is this weekend, which means you’ve probably packed your bag of beauty essentials, mastered your crown braid, and armed yourself with a slew of crop tops to pair with your denim cut offs. But you may have forgotten one very important thing: a chic, festival-ready manicure. (Oops!) Luckily our friends at Ciaté are here to help. Scroll down to see the easiest DIY mani ever. ?
Start by applying a base coat, like Ciaté’s Underwear Base Coat ($8), to clean nails. Allow extra time for this coat to dry, since you will be applying tape over it in the next step.
Next, place a circular binder reinforcement sticker onto the bottom half of your nails. (The stickers used in this tutorial are from Ciaté’s Monochrome set, which will be available in May.) After creating your half-circle shape, apply Ciate’s Mini Paint Pot Nail Polish ($15) in Hoopla (or try OPI’s Nail Lacquer, $10, in Elephantastic Pink) in the curved space. Peel off the sticker.
Take two small pieces of tape and lay them over the top of your nail so they create a triangle shape. Paint Ciate’s Mini Paint Pot Nail Polish ($8) in Pepperminty (or Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Nail Colour, $2, in Mint Sorbet) over the top part of the nail that is still exposed, and then peel off the tape.
Seal your work with Ciate Speed Coat ($8) for a high-shine finish.
