Seriously—These Superfood-Infused Polishes Fixed My Brittle Nails
I don't have a lot of feelings about nail polish brands. I'm not any more obsessed with O.P.I than I am CND (both have amazing colour ranges IMHO), and I don't much care if my lacquer is designer or drugstore. (That said, I will cop to collecting limited edition Chanel Le Vernis. What can I say? I'm only human.) My nails themselves are generally weak, and if I ever fall off the hand cream bandwagon for too long my cuticles peel. I've tried a ton of lacquers that claim to improve nail health but I've never found anything that works. For that reason I usually stick with the regular stuff because it's all the same to me. Still, when Nails Inc's newest nail polish collection came across my desk, I pounced. Infused with sweet almond oil and buzzy ingredient matcha, these lacquers are all about using skincare ingredients to boost nail health. Promising, right?

Sweet almond oil is rich in vitamin E and is a well-known nail nourisher. (Which is probably why it's a key ingredient in many cuticle oils, like this one from The Body Shop, $11.) Matcha is packed with protective antioxidants, making it a pretty genius inclusion in nail polish if you ask me. Essentially these are strengthening nail treatments with gorgeous colours thrown into the bargain. I've been trialling a duo of shades in the range for two weeks now and I'll be honest—I'm not mad about it. I know a fortnight isn't super-long, but the fact that I haven't suffered a single broken nail in that time speaks volumes. When I removed one colour to apply the next I noticed my digits were looking healthier than they had since my last pro mani. Aside from the good-for-you formula, the quality of colour and finish are excellent. (Which is good, because those two things are deal-breakers for me.) Yes, I do wear drugstore brands (shout out to my girl Sally Hansen), but I won't settle for streaky coverage or a lack of shine. Happily, these superfood-infused polishes tick all the boxes.
Now, onto the shades. Mayfair Market is a glorious rose gold that I am really feeling for spring. The colour is so opaque you really only need a single coat but I double up for longevity's sake. This one lasted a full week before chipping. (A big deal for my brittle nails, trust.) Gloucester Crescent is a lush linen grey—the perfect suit-everything-in-your-wardrobe hue. Easy to apply, the jumbo brush is designed to make application foolproof. This one chipped a little sooner, but I still got a respectable five days out of it. In sum, I'm convinced these matcha-infused lacquers are improving the condition of my nails while I wear them. Plus, they're stretching out time between manis which is never a bad thing. Let's just say I don't plan on wearing anything else for a while.
