This Mascara Has Over 10,000 Repins on Pinterest
Everyone knows Pinterest is a gold mine of recipes and DIYs, but lately we’ve been using it to aid our beauty sleuthing. Case in point: when an intriguing new product with thousands of repins shows up at the top of our personal feeds. Why has this product seen so much love? What is it about it that makes women want to pin it to their boards (which we all know is, like, the highest honour ever)? The answer is usually simple: because it’s good. Products that get repinned over and over are usually the most-loved in their class—and thus, we need to know what they are ASAP. With this mind, we asked our friends at Pinterest to share with us the one mascara that’s received over 10K repins in their vast network. Turns out it’s a true classic: Benefit’s They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara ($42).
This mascara is one of the brand’s breakthrough best sellers, with over 170K loves and 11K mostly positive reviews on Sephora.com. The brush features staggered plastic bristles that grab your lashes and lift them up and out; the domed tip allows you to use the brush vertically to define even the tiniest lashes. I’ve used the mascara, and it certainly defined and lengthened my short, stubby lashes (though personally I prefer a more voluminous finish). We asked Larkin Brown, Pinterest's in-house researcher and stylist about why she thought this mascara has been dominating boards as of late. "Benefit has been topping the Pinterest charts for months, and They’re Real has edged out their former champ, Roller Lash ($42)," she says. "With its thicker formula, They’re Real provides bigger, bolder lashes with incredible staying power—perfect for the girl who works all day and still makes it out. The only downside is it takes a bit more effort to remove, but worth it for lashes that look like falsies." Falsie status? Well worth it indeed.
