Exclusive: We Got Ready for The Aria Awards with Montana Cox
The ARIA’s—Australia’s biggest night of music, is currently underway at The Star in Pyrmont. And while it should be all about the music, we’re obviously more interested in the beauty. We sat down with Montana Cox in the David Jones Styling Suite before she hit the red carpet to talk event-ready beauty secrets and tricks. Keep scrolling for her decadent pre-red-carpet facial and the best tip she’s picked up from her makeup artist mum.
Byrdie Australia: What’s your ARIAs makeup routine?
Montana Cox: Get my nails done, a facial, a hair treatment and get to bed early during the week. Also! Drink a lot of water (especially today—it’s about 40 degrees!). I get a facial to make sure I’m looking tip-top. This time I went to The Darling for a Pure Gold Radiance Facial ($310)—it literally contained pure gold! It helps to give you a glow.
B: What was the inspiration behind your beauty look today?
MC: Relaxed and easy—the ARIA’s are normally a little bit more fun but my outfit is where all the fun is today. I just went for some gold to funk up the eye but everything else is pretty natural. Just added a touch of sparkle!
B: What is the best tip you’ve learned from your Mum (who is a makeup artist)?
MC: My mum has ALWAYS said to blend your makeup into your skin. And her other little tip is to put hairspray on your eyebrows and brush them up which I do all the time. Mum would always give me Dermalogica products too to use on my skin too.
And I always spray MAC Prep + Prime Fix ($27) after finishing my makeup—powder can make you look a bit cakey but the spray gives that nice dewy look.
B: You fly a lot, do you have any tricks you use post-flight to help perk up your skin?
MC: Definitely! I use the SK-II Facial Treatment Masks ($140)—those things are amazing and fix your skin instantly. I dry out so much on the plane and from that I tend to break out, so I have to constantly keep my skin hydrated. I also spray my face every few hours with the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist ($49). And then I put Lucas Papaw Ointment ($5) around my nostrils because the air-conditioning really dries you out so I try to stop that.
