Byrdie: Congratulations on your new anti-ageing products! Can you tell us a bit about them?
Miranda Kerr: I absolutely am obsessed with them–I’ve been trialling them for the last six months and I can’t get enough. I’ve been using both every day, even though I probably should be using the Age-Defying AHA Facial Exfoliator ($55) every second day, but I just love how it makes my skin feel. If I’m going to put on the Age-Defying Phytox Oil ($60) afterwards, which has so many nutrients, antioxidants and essential fatty acids in it, I feel like it’ll sink in deeper because I’ve exfoliated first.
B: What was the inspiration behind these additions to the range? How did they come about?
MK: It was a natural evolution to go into products that were specific for anti-aging, because all the other products are full of ingredients that are nourishing and nurturing for the skin, but there was nothing specifically targeted for fine lines or wrinkles. Now we’ve created these two products that are going to resist fine lines and wrinkles in a natural way. They’re really powerful, strong products but at the same time, they’re gentle. The most beautiful skin to me, is healthy skin, so I really wanted to create products that invigorated the skin without having to use any harsh chemicals.
B: How involved are you with product development and that side of things?
MK: I’m 100% involved. From identifying key ingredients to smelling everything, touching and feeling the products, trialling them, the packaging, the marketing, everything—it’s my baby, it’s my vision. I invented products that I honestly felt like I needed and I wanted, and that weren’t available in the marketplace.
B: How many prototypes do you go through? Are there lots of different versions you trial before you’re happy?
MK: Yes—I’m quite specific. So I’ll talk to the lab in Australia and say, ‘This is what I really want to create’, and, ‘What do you guys think about this?’ Obviously they’re the ones who know exactly which combination of ingredients works most effectively so they’ll say, ‘What about this or what about that?’ and then I’ll say, ‘Add a bit more of this or a bit more of that’, and we go back and forth. Then I’ll try the products and have my friends and family try them too. That way I feel like we get a good understanding of how the products work. Also, we’ve done a lot of independent research trials for these new anti-aging products especially, and found that there’s a noticeable visual reduction in fine lines in the 24-hours after using the Age-Defying Phytox Oil. That’s due to a trademarked combination of ingredients that’s exclusive to Kora Organics and the Phytox Oil, which is pretty exciting.
B: Can you tell us a bit more about those ingredients?
MK: The Phytox Oil contains acai fruit oil and lavandula stoechas extract. The lavandula acts kind of like a sticky tape for the epidermis to help relax wrinkles, and the acai oil is an antioxidant powerhouse with essential fatty acids, vitamin C and all your omegas. I’ve really noticed a difference in my skin since using it.
B: What would you say are your top three Kora Organics products if you had to choose?
MK: This is hard because I love them all so much and I’ve really put my heart and soul into each and every product. I personally love the rosehip oil, but then I’m also obsessed with the lip balm. We’re constantly licking our lips and really eating what we have on them, so it was important to me to create a product that was not only certified organic and used the highest quality avocado, jojoba and rosehip oils, but was also a vitamin-enhanced lip balm. It contains a lot of vitamin C, so when you’re licking your lips you’re actually getting an adequate amount of vitamin C for the day which is kind of cool. I love the body lotion because I used to have really dry skin on my legs and I don’t anymore. It smells so good too—like sandalwood essential oil and rosehip oil. I love the new Heart Chakra Essence ($60). It’s my personal blend of super-charged oils like rose otto, sandalwood and ylang-ylang to really nurture and heal your heart. You put it on your pulse points and it feels very uplifting. It works on an energetic level like all aromatherapy products do. It feels like you’re energetically getting a hug—that’s the only way I can describe it.

B: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
MK: Right now, it’s oatmeal. Mostly because I feel really good when I eat oatmeal. So I get steel-cut oatmeal and cook it in water, and then add a bit of goat milk and maple syrup.
B: Do you have any energy-boosting tricks you use day-to-day?
MK: Oh yeah, I have a lot of energy-boosting tricks! Dry body brushing is really energising for the body. Having a quick rinse in cold water too. So you have a shower and then you just quickly rinse in cold water, it’s very invigorating. If I’m at work, and I will put my legs up the wall, or just put my legs up and do a five-minute meditation where I focus on my breath. That’s really good for energy.
B: Who do you follow on Instagram for inspiration?
MK: I follow way too many people. I follow 1649 people! I’m just looking at my Instagram and the feed is coming up: The Ellen Show, Grandiflora, The Chopra Foundation, and… a lot of cooking accounts. There’s so many!
B: Do you like to cook a lot? Any signature dishes?
MK: I love to cook. I have probably too many signature dishes. I like to make a big salad with finely chopped cucumber, avocado, kale, spinach, celery, cabbage, cauliflower and pine nuts, and then I’ll add some avocado or macadamia nut oil, apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon, a little bit of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos ($11) and sea salt. It tastes really good. And then I’ll grill some salmon, and make some mashed sweet potatoes to go with that. I also like to do a slow roast chicken dish which is pretty yummy—Flynn loves that.
B: Which emoji best sums you up?
MK: I’m probably the dancing lady in the red dress. I love to dance and red is my favourite colour.
