Everyone Will Be Dyeing Their Hair This Colour in 2017
Margaret Zhang is no stranger to shaking up her hair game. The multitasking stylist, writer, photographer, creative director and founder of style blog Shine by Three (phew), is known for experimenting with different cuts and textures. Remember when she cut in cool-girl bangs? I do. (It was around the time I started seeing fringe doppelgängers all over Sydney.) Still, despite her experimental take on beauty, Zhang has never really embraced a dramatic colour change. Until now, that is. Proving that platinum is one hair trend that's not going anywhere this summer, the fashion influencer just debuted new bright blonde strands on Instagram. According to Zhang's account it took colourist Michael Kelly 11 hours to lift her naturally dark strands to bright blonde. Small price to pay when the end result is so fab though, right?
Keep scrolling to see the process for yourself.
From a little detective work on Instagram tags it appears that Michael Kelly used Redken's pH-Bonder (a product similar to Olaplex) to maintain Zhang's condition during the bleaching process—especially important when lifting Asian hair all the way to platinum blonde.
The mid-point. Is it just us or does this pastel orange hair colour situation look equally amazing on Margaret?
The final result! We're mildly obsessed with Zhang's new hair colour. (Still in love with her fringe, too.) In fact, we'll take this opportunity to predict platinum as the hue everyone will be dyeing their hair in 2017.
