This Budding Beauty Boss Shares the Tips She's Learned on the Job
It’s hard to believe Lianna Perdis is only 16-years-old. The social media savvy teenager (and eldest daughter of Napoleon Perdis) lives and breathes beauty in a big way. She also gives off the quietly confident vibe of someone way beyond her years. Having grown up in and around her parents' business, Perdis knows more about what it takes to run a global makeup brand than most high schoolers know about Pokemon Go. (Read: LOTS.) While the makeup heiress says she's always been into beauty, her interest has gradually developed from a childhood fascination with Mum's makeup bag ("I used to sneakily apply her lipsticks") into a love for product development. This year marked Perdis' first launch within the brand, a bite-sized collection called Total Bae that includes essentials like concealer and cheek tint. We sat down with this budding beauty boss to quiz her on everything from the skills she's picked up from her dad to what's it like growing up in a famous family.

BYRDIE Australia: Walk us through your skincare routine.
Lianna Perdis: I love cleansing as I know I am looking after my skin. I use face wipes to remove my makeup because they are quick and easy to use. I also really like using Balm Voyage Moisture Complex Cleanser and Makeup Remover ($59) both morning and night. I cannot live without Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal at the moment because I have been travelling so much—my skin needs some TLC. I mostly stick to the same skincare regime, but when Dad thinks about bringing out new products I like to try them out and give him some feedback.
BA: How has your skincare routine changed as you’ve gotten older?
LP: Not too much. As I am getting older and wearing a little bit more makeup so I make sure I cleanse thoroughly. Sometimes I also double cleanse.

BA: What’s your day-to-day makeup routine like?
LP: I apply primer all over my face to make my foundation look smooth and my skin tone appear brighter. I am a big fan of Stroke of Genius Liquid Foundation ($65) so I use that and set it with powder foundation. I lightly brush a small amount of matte rose pink blush on the apples of my cheeks for a natural look. For day I keep my eyes simple by applying a few coats of Mesmer-Eyes Mascara ($39). On lips, a sweep of pH Lip Shine ($28) gives gloss and colour, and conditions my lips too.
BA: Which are your 3 favourite makeup products from Napoleon Perdis?
LP: Lip Service ($28); I love this so much—it conditions my lips and is so hydrating. I have one at school, one in my handbag, one next to my bed and one in the bathroom.
Brightening Skin Primer ($39); Not only does it make my skin look smoother and brighter, it helps keep my foundation on all day.
Camera Finish Powder Foundation ($69); Perfect for selfies as it makes your skin look so good in pics. Plus, it keeps shine at bay.
BA: What’s the best makeup trick you’ve learned from your dad?
LP: He’s taught me so much about looking after my skin—he calls skincare a skinvestment. The correct cleansing regime means I have clearer skin and my makeup also looks better.
BA: What’s your hair routine like?
LP: I like to wear it out a lot so I have to make sure I don’t put too much heat on it. I get regular trims and apply conditioning masks to keep it healthy. I am obsessed with styling my hair and love trying out fun ‘90s looks. I am also inspired by a lot of red carpet and runway trends. Rihanna is always pushing boundaries and taking risks—I love her too.
BA: What are your beauty basics for body?
LP: I love to use oils and exfoliating products on my body.
BA: What’s your first makeup memory?
LP: When I was young I loved to get into Mum’s makeup and sneakily apply her lipsticks. Mum wears bright lips a lot and I wanted to be just like her. I used to pick out bright reds and pinks and I am sure I made a mess in the process…
BA: Who is more into beauty—you or your sisters?
LP: I think we are all very interested in beauty. We all have our own interests though. I really like product development side of things and my other sisters love to apply makeup a little more.
BA: What is it like being the daughter of Napoleon Perdis?
LP: It’s the best! I feel so lucky because he is the best dad in the world. He’s so supportive and always encouraging me to follow my dreams. I remember one time he arrived at an event in an army tank—at the time it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Of course I also love having endless supplies of makeup and skincare on hand too ;)
