5 Makeup Secrets Kylie Jenner Knows (That You Don't)
Kylie isn't the only Kardashian-Jenner with impressive makeup skills, but we'd argue she is the best at sharing them with the world. From a men's post-shaving balm she uses as primer, to a go-to spot treatment, Jenner firmly believes in sharing beauty secrets via social media. She even took us along on a Sephora trip, giving us a taste of what it'd be like to blow $1200 (!!) in one transaction. There's a reason the youngest Jenner's beauty empire continues to grow and expand—she's genuinely passionate about makeup. In honour of her birthday, we're counting down the makeup secrets Kylie Jenner knows that you don't.

The first time we spotted this secret was in a video how-to for Jenner's 18th birthday makeup look last year. In the video, makeup artist Hrush Achemyan deftly applies orange blush as a base for a pink shade in order to punch up the intensity. Jenner clearly took this advice on board when creating her Kyshadow Palette saying: "The colour orange was very important to me to put in my palette, orange really makes the colours pop." Watch Jenner demonstrate how to use the colour here.
Instead of blending out her contours with a clean brush (as most makeup artists recommend) Jenner uses matte cream bronzer to buff away any hard edges. Another secret learned from Achemyan, this trick gives the entire complexion a sun-kissed glow and keeps any sculpting from looking too stark.

Highlighting the inner corners of your eyes isn't exactly a trade secret at this point. (A quick whip around YouTube confirms it's pretty standard procedure.) Jenner's take on this particular step, however, boosts the highlighter's eye-opening effect as well as its staying power. In this video, makeup artist Ariel Tejada demonstrates by sweeping a champagne shade around Jenner's tear ducts before completing the rest of her eyeshadow. Then, he adds adds another light layer as a final flourish delivering a seriously luminous effect.

Before Jenner launched her Lip Kit ($38) in Dead of Knight a few months ago she was all about re-purposing kohl as lipstick, saying: "I used black eyeliner when it wasn't as easy to find matte black lipstick." Obviously a fan of dual-use products, Jenner has also be known to use brown lip liner to define her eyes.

If you've never tried this makeup secret on yourself, we suggest you clear your schedule tonight to practice. It involves applying a piece of Magic Tape to your eye as a guide—not for cat-eye liner—but for winged eyeshadow. The tape allows you to create a sharp edge with shadow with the same eye-lifting properties as winged liner, but a softer finish.
