These Are the 15 Products Kim Kardashian Had on Her Face at the VMAs
The MTV Video Music Awards are consistently memorable, year after year. The performances are iconic, Twitter has a field day, and we (as beauty die-hards) go crazy over the makeup looks. The most anticipated at any event, but especially one like this, is Kim Kardashian's makeup look.
So, when we heard her go-to makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, was creating the look and it would be entirely done using Laura Mercier products—we had to get an interview. But before we get to that (Dedivanovic answered all our pressing questions), see below for the full breakdown of every product used on Kim Kardashian's face leading up to the red carpet.
Dedivanovic applied Laura Mercier's Infusion de Rose Nourishing Cream ($85) to give Kim's skin a soft, moisturised base.
First, Dedivanovic applied Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation in Maple ($65) to even out her complexion and give her a "lit from within" glow. To make sure the look lasted all night, he dusted Laura Mercer Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($62) all over her t-zone. Dedivanovic contoured Kim's hairline, nose, and cheekbones using Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze-03 ($50) to give her skin that sun-kissed glow. To give her cheeks a summery, peach flush, Dedivanovic lightly dusted Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Peach Whisper ($40). This added a pop of colour to Kim’s face, without distracting from her lustrous skin. (Alert: Major key #1.)
Next, Dedivanovic applied Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in Addiction ($50) to the inner corners of Kim’s eyes and on her cupid’s bow to brighten and plump. He then dusted Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder in Devotion ($50) along her cheeks to highlight her (incredibly sculpted) cheekbones. Dedivanovic applied the same shimmery cocktail on her chest, collarbone, and legs. Finally, he lightly spritzed Kim’s skin with Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($64), to set her makeup and give her skin a fresh gleaming quality.
To make Kim’s eyes look sultry and bronzed, Dedivanovic lightly swept Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Sand Glow ($45) across the lid. He then applied the Copper shade from the Laura Mercier Eye Art Caviar Colour-Inspired Palette on the outer corners of the eye and across the lower lash line to make her eyes pop.
In creating Kim’s signature bold brows, Dedivanovic applied Laura Mercier Brow Dimension Fibre Infused Colour Gel in Brunette to the outer corners of her brows, using a mascara wand to create more drama and apply a thicker layer of product.(Alert: Major key #2.) He coloured the middle of the brows with gel, using light strokes to create a softer look.
Dedivanovic used Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Hazelnut Tea ($35) to keep Kim’s lips soft and natural. For the final finishing touch, he applied Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Sensual ($40) to give her a perfect nude tint.

BYRDIE: What was the inspiration for tonight's look?
MARIO DEDIVANOVIC: I was really playing off of a Mediterranean inspiration—I wanted Kim to look like a Greek goddess with dewy, clean makeup. Her whole look tonight was relaxed and sexy, so I wanted her makeup to align with that.
BYRDIE: Which are the hero products that really made the look come together?
MD: The Face Illuminator powders—I used two shades: Addiction and Devotion. I used Addiction, the lighter shade, to highlight her cupid’s bow and the inner corners of her eyes. I then used Devotion, a bronze shade, on her cheekbones. And I applied them to her body as well!
BYRDIE: What's your absolute favourite product to use on Kim?
MD: Concealer—it's probably the one product I would choose if I could only keep one.
BYRDIE: Which foundation is perfect for her?
MD: Depends on the event, anywhere from light to medium coverage because she has great skin.
BYRDIE: Do you use any drugstore products or under-the-radar products on a regular basis? If so, which ones?
MD: Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso ($16) is my most recent obsession.
