Kat Von D's Pointillism Makeup Tutorial Will Blow Your Mind
Classic beauty is a term used quite often, but leave it to Kat Von D to give the phrase a whole new meaning. Allure broke the news of Von D's new daily series, Kat's Beauty Chat, and to celebrate its launch, the tattoo artist–turned–beauty mogul released an awesome video.
Pointilism, which started in the late 1880s, is a painting technique where small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image. Using the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation, Von D applies this technique to her face makeup (contour included!) with a Q-tip. And the effect is unreal.
From afar, you don't notice that there's anything unusual about Von D's makeup, but as the camera zooms in, you can begin to see the individual dots. This may be the prettiest makeup optical illusion we've ever seen.
For winged liner that stays put through basically anything, Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner ($28) is legit.
