The Best Way to Banish Sugar Cravings, According to a Supermodel
I find it somewhat comforting to know that even supermodels make health-focused New Year's resolutions. Maybe it's because the idea that these specimens of peak fitness (rivalled only by, you know, actual athletes) still feel they have room to improve somehow makes them more relatable? Or maybe it's just that slogging your guts out at the gym hurts a tiny bit less when you remember that Gigi Hadid is probably halfway across the world doing the exact same thing. Either way, I'm all for following along as models get fit and practice wellness. (It's a great way to source ideas for my own life, after all.)
Which is why I'm completely on board with Karlie Kloss' goals for 2017. According to a recent Vogue.com interview, the supermodel has made several resolutions, including sleeping more and travelling less, but the one I'm most interested in is her intention to cut down on sugar. "I’ve been trying to satisfy my sweet tooth in a more healthy, wholesome way," she said. To that end, Kloss has hacked her meals for success by adding healthy fats like avocado and coconut oil. (Which is great advice for quashing cravings according to Patron Saint of That Sugar-Free Life, Sarah Wilson.) She's also been whipping up a superfood smoothie in the mornings to keep any hankerings for sugar on low. The recipe is dosed with Moon Juice’s health-boosting powder to specifically counteract cravings, but if you're not keen on paying for international shipping you can find similar supplements in most health food stores.
