You wouldn't guess by looking at these pictures, that they were shot in a warehouse backstage the David Jones runway show in less than five minutes, would you? It's because with a face like that of Jessica Gomes, it's basically impossible to get anything but a perfect shot (plus, the girl knows her angles). It comes as no surprise then, to learn that the Chinese-Australian beauty has been modelling for the greater part of the last twenty years across all corners of the globe. And as if her stellar career wasn't already enough, Gomes also has her own line of crazy-good skincare products, Equal Beauty—FYI, you need the hydrating mist in your life.
Inspired by her effortless glow, we asked the model-slash-business woman to share all her best beauty tricks and recommendations, and boy did she deliver. From a light-as-air foundation, to Sydney's best Italian restaurant, nothing's off the cards for this dream girl. If you want more (which I know you do) keep scrolling.

Describe your approach to beauty
I keep it simple—less is more. I’m always striving for clean, hydrated, and glowy skin. After cleansing I use a serum, which is the most important thing—it gives my skin a drink. I always wear an SPF moisturiser, whether that's in my tinted moisturiser or just a sunscreen. I finish by using a hydration spray to seal and protect my skin and, again, keep it hydrated.
What’s your first beauty memory?
My mother used to always tell me to take off my makeup otherwise I would turn into a cat, ha ha! I used to put my mother's red lipstick on all the time—it was Chanel red. I remember thinking, "I can't wait to wear makeup".

What was the first beauty product you ever bought?
Nivea cream to moisturise my body. It would get so dry in Perth where I grew up, so I would lather it on my skin. It was all I could afford at the time, and the only options I had to buy beauty products were at Coles or Woolworths when Mum did the groceries.
And the last product you bought?
Estee Lauder Illuminating Primer ($50)—I adore it!

What inspired you to start your own skincare range, Equal Beauty?
I just felt like I couldn't find products I could travel with that gave me the results I wanted. It was a real challenge and an eye opener, creating my own brand. I’m so glad that I did it. I adore my brand and the products I’ve made. They all really go back to my simple beauty values, which I know work for everyone’s skin—I wanted my products to speak to everybody.
Any exciting launches in the works?
A sunscreen and a whole new line of products we are launching in Asia—I’m excited to announce more soon.

What products do you buy again and again?
La Mer The Cleansing Micellar Water ($112), Estee Lauder Illuminating Primer ($50), Equal Beauty Super Mist Spray ($80), and Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($63). They're all essentials and I can't live without them.
What’s your holy grail foundation?
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Foundation ($78).

You travel so much for work. What does your in-flight skincare routine look like?
I do my five-step Equal Beauty in-flight facial. I cleanse my face to get all the dirt off, followed by hydrating with my Equal Beauty Super Serum ($100), and then I’ll use the Eye Veil ($110) to de-puff my eyes. I find they’re really necessary after a long flight. To finish off, I use the Moisture Veil ($115) and a spritz of my Super Mist Spray ($80).

Are there any beauty treatments you indulge in before a runway appearance or big event?
I love treating myself to a Melanie Grant facial. I also love to go to a Korean spa to get a body scrub and oil massage. I also love getting my nails done by Jocelyn Petroni. She uses Chanel nail polish and always does such a beautiful job.
How do you look after your hair?
I use Oribe Products, they’re the best. I love getting regular trims by Jenny Kim—she’s amazing. As for treatments, I love any beautiful salon as long as they give a good head massage.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Get a coffee! Then I’ll check my emails and Instagram, look at my to-do list, and start my beauty routine using the Equal Beauty range.
What does your regular workout routine look like?
I love to dance, so I do Tracey Anderson band classes. I’m also learning to box, and you’ll find me playing tennis and going for swims in the ocean.

What do you typically eat in a day?
I love food! Since I'm travelling a lot, it can be anything from sushi to a macrobiotic meal to French or Italian food. Usually, for breakfast I’ll have protein–scrambled eggs with bacon, avocado, or oatmeal. For lunch, I go for a Chinese chicken salad. My dinners tend to be a hot soup, or a fresh piece of grilled salmon with a side of spinach and kale.
Any restaurants you love to indulge in?
I love Pace, Sushi Park, Giorgio Boldi, and Madeo in Los Angeles. In Sydney, I can’t go past Fratelli Paradiso. My favourite grocery store is Erewhon.
