To say I'm obsessed with beauty hacks is an understatement. I live for the idea that I can do things quickly, in a cost-effective way, with ingredients found around my apartment. Enter aspirin. Besides the fact that I use it to rid myself of hangovers and menstrual cramps, I also did a little googling and found out those tiny white pills have a ton of beauty benefits.

Below, find four of the coolest, quickest, and most exciting ways aspirin can work in your beauty routine. Preview: It Will get rid of your breakouts.

Nix Brassiness

Post-summer hair can be rough. After splashing, swimming, and lounging in the pool for three months, you're probably plagued by a bit (or a lot) of brassiness. Mix six to eight aspirins with warm water until it creates a paste. Smooth the blend over your hair and wash it out after 15 minutes to reveal a cooler, more toned shade.

Clear up blemishes

Adult acne is real, people. Clear up those annoying blemishes by crushing up an aspirin with a teaspoon of water. Apply the mixture to your pimple to spot-treat and keep it on there for five minutes. Wash it off with your usual cleanser, and your breakout will be less red, quite soothed, and dried out by morning.

Eliminate Dandruff

Crush up two aspirins into a powder and add it to your shampoo to banish dandruff and calm your irritated scalp. Keep it in your hair for a few minutes and rinse it out completely. Follow up with another wash of shampoo, and continue each time you shower until your dandruff is gone.

Exfoliate and Brighten

Brighten your skin up with an easy-to-DIY mask. One of the ingredients included in aspirin is similar in make-up to salicylic acid—a chemical exfoliant that helps to clear up acne, soften, and keep your skin glowing. Blend five aspirins, a tablespoon of water, and honey and apply to your skin in small circular motions. Leave it on for five minutes and wash it off. Follow up with your regular moisturiser, and voilà!
