An Expert Reveals the Exercises That Target Cellulite
Like acne and oily hair, cellulite is one of those arch nemeses that come unannounced and completely unwanted to wreak havoc on our bodies. The dreadful thing about cellulite (and all of those issues, really) is that it’s so difficult to get rid of. While you can’t eliminate cellulite entirely, there are a number of exercises you can do to tone and lift problem areas and smooth out those pesky dimples.
To find out which exercises are best for tackling cellulite, we turned to personal trainer Amanda Kajen of I Love Kickboxing in New York City. She let us in on five easy exercises that you can even do on your own, without any equipment at home. To learn how to do each exercise, keep scrolling!
Lunges are the ultimate glute, butt, and thigh-toning exercise, so it only makes sense that they would be a good weapon against cellulite, too.
This move is best for doing at home, unless you don't mind channeling your inner Nicki Minaj à la “Anaconda.”
There’s no denying squats are excellent for toning and firming your glutes, but adding in this leg raise really helps take your workout to the next level.
Ah, the plank. It’s the ultimate move for targeting several areas of the body (most notably, the core), but adding in an alternating leg lift makes this the plank 2.0.
The trick to this move is to pivot the hips and squeeze your glutes while you’re relieving some stress on the bag. It’s a win-win!
Kajen adds that incorporating HIIT training for at least 30 minutes a day three times a week to your workout will burn fat, which in turn decreases cellulite.
Psst—did you know that there are products that help decrease the look of cellulite as well? We rate Weleda's Birch Cellulite Oil ($32).
