The Magic Trick That Finally Made My Dark Circles Disappear
I tap-tap-tap on brightening eye cream religiously (morning and night, and occasionally throughout the day), but either I’m doing it wrong or my dark circles have super powers. Either way, my stubborn under-eye circles have caused me to become close friends with concealer. And when my eyes are really saying you should probably go back to bed, I take my concealing efforts a step further and use this simple trick. Keep reading to find out what it is!
It’s an easy extra step that really doesn’t add much time, but it makes a big difference. All you need is a colour corrector, a peach-toned colour corrector to be exact. You may have heard makeup artists talk it or even seen a palette of pastel pigments, but never understood why someone would need to use something that looks like face paint. Let me assure you, it’s actually not as intimidating as it looks and it works. All thanks to colour theory. On the colour wheel, what’s opposite blue? A peachy orange colour. Peach neutralizes blue. And it’s as simple as that.
Let’s talk application. With my regular under-eye concealer, it can be tempting to apply it everywhere—corner to corner, the entire under-eye area. (Guilty, 100-per cent.) But I never do that with colour corrector. Trust me on this one—it only works if you apply it directly to the dark areas. Look in the mirror. That bluish curved line extending down from the inner corner of your eye is your target area. I either use my pinky finger or a concealer brush (for more precision) to apply it. Just dab it on and press the product into your skin—don’t rub. Then follow with concealer. Again, don’t rub in your concealer or you’ll move around the carefully placed colour corrector.
